Accessing training for Vision Impairment

The STLS Sensory Service offer a range of training to school and setting professionals in Kent.  

To access any of the following courses please discuss your training needs with your Specialist Teacher for Vision Impairment or contact:

STLS Core Training Offer – Access to the Online Training International course for Visual Impairment and Visual Impairment in Further Education.  This is purchased by the STLS Sensory Service and is available to all professionals in Kent working with learners with visual impairment. 

Vision Impairment Awareness Level Training – This is provided to all settings and schools with learners with visual impairment.

Bespoke Training to School – This is provided to all settings and schools and focuses on the access needs of individual learners with visual impairment.

County Courses – Supporting Inclusion for Learners with Vision Impairment.  This is provided as a seven-day course offered over a number of weeks.  They provide in-depth information to support the access needs of learners with vision impairment.

Cerebral Vision Impairment Training – This training is offered to Special Schools with a number of learners with CVI.

SENCO Forum Training – Sessions of one or two hours in length are available to be provided at SENCO/EY SENCO Forums.

Sensory Link Forum – Two training days are provided by the STLS Sensory Service annually.  These events include specialist input from external speakers on meeting the needs of children with Sensory Impairment and Profound, Severe and Complex Learning Needs.  This training is open to those special schools supporting the Sensory Link Approach.
