Accessing training for Hearing Impairment
The STLS Sensory Service offer a range of training to school and setting professionals in Kent.

STLS Core Training Offer – Access to the Online Training International course for Hearing Impairment and Hearing Impairment in Further Education. This is purchased by the STLS Sensory Service and is available to all professionals in Kent working with learners with hearing impairment.
Deaf Awareness Training – This is provided to all settings and schools with learners with hearing impairment.
Bespoke Training to School – This is provided to all settings and schools and focuses on the access needs of individual learners with hearing impairment.
County Course – Supporting Inclusion for Pupils with Hearing Impairment. This is a three-day course offered over three weeks which provides in-depth information to support the access needs of learners with hearing impairment.
KCC BSL Courses – Three courses are offered annually at BSL Level 1 and BSL Level 2. These are open to parents and professionals working with children and young people who use BSL to access the curriculum. KCC fund the course fees and individuals/organisations must provide the funding for the exam fees.
SENCO Forum Training – Sessions of one or two hours in length are available to be provided at SENCO/EY SENCO Forums.
Sensory Link Forum – Two training days are provided by the STLS Sensory Service annually. These events include specialist input from external speakers on meeting the needs of children with Sensory Impairment and Profound, Severe and Complex Learning Needs. This training is open to those special schools supporting the Sensory Link Approach.
