Supporting Children in Kent with Special Educational Needs and Disability

Specialist Resourced Provision

There are six Specialist Resource Provisions (SRP) in Kent for children and young people with PD.  An SRP sets out to enable the inclusion of children and young people with physical disability through:

  • providing an inclusive provision
  • enabling the pupil to join with mainstream peers where possible, for at least 50% of the time
  • providing suitable qualified and experienced staff to work with and support pupils
  • working in partnership with parents and carers
  • providing a building with suitable access for children and young people with physical disabilities, eg care suite, level access or suitable ramps, accessible specialist teaching rooms, quiet space for therapy activities
  • They are an integral part of the school, including after school activities and clubs.

Admissions

The Local Authority manages admissions to the SRP.  Pupils will normally have an Education Health Care plan or have a plan in process.  Referral is through the Area SEN team
