Who is this for?
Teaching Assistants in Key Stages 1 and 2 who work closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs / Disabilities
Course Objectives:
To explore research and a range of effective approaches and strategies to support and develop:
- speech, language, and communication skills
- effective ways of communicating with pupils
- emotional containment and perceived safety
- independence - the ability of pupils to plan, monitor, understand and manage their own learning
leading to pupils developing a greater independence in learning
We will consider research about what makes a TA effective with specialist seminars, including practical illustrations and strategies, with opportunities for discussion and interactive learning:
- What TAs Need To Know About Research, and How It Can Improve Our Practice
- Supporting Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Supporting Young Children With Delayed Language and Communication Skills
- Reframing Behaviour: Understanding Emotional Containment
- Supporting Independent Learning in the Classroom
Date and Time: Thursday 26th January 2023 - arrive at 9.15am, 9.30am - 3.30pm.
